It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of our ground team, Rod Price.
Rod was an Honorary Brigand, a unique award made to him in recognition of the sterling service he had given to the club; tending to the historic Broadhalfpenny Down cricket pitch for over 27 years. During this time, the significant improvements in the quality of the playing surface are very much a testament to his dedication and hard work.
Rod used his local knowledge and vast experience to help any Brigands Captain who would ask, what to do at the toss? "Look down the valley" he would say about weather prospects, and "there's something in this for the bowlers" as his code for "I wouldn't bat first if I were you".
At this sad time, our thoughts are with Marie, his widow, and his family.
